Roughly ten pickup loads of capacity with side walls low enough to walk material in rather than lift it over, which is why it is booked more than any other size.
The twenty yard box has become the standard answer for interior renovation because its two limits are well matched to what renovation actually produces. Mixed construction debris sits at a density where a twenty fills its volume and approaches its weight allowance at roughly the same moment, which is the definition of an efficiently specified container.
It also holds around ten level pickup loads, which is a quantity most people can picture. A kitchen taken back to the walls, a single layer roof tear off on a typical property, a whole room strip out including flooring and plaster, or a substantial garage and loft clearance all sit comfortably inside that figure once the usual packing allowance is added.
The practical advantage of this size on a renovation is the barn door at the end of the container. With the door open and latched, material can be walked or barrowed straight in at floor level rather than lifted over a four foot wall. On a job producing hundreds of individual loads that difference dominates the labour cost of the rental.
It only works if the door end faces the work, which is a decision made at delivery and difficult to change afterwards. Mark the ground with the orientation you want before the truck arrives. If the door ends up against a fence or a wall, every piece of material has to go over the side for the whole rental period.
Roofing is the exterior job the twenty suits best, with one important qualification. A single layer tear off on a typical Haskins, OH property generates a volume this box handles well, and the shingle weight sits inside a normal allowance. A second or third layer on the same roof doubles or triples the tonnage without changing the footprint at all.
That means the number of layers matters far more than the square footage when you book. The container size usually stays at twenty while the weight allowance needs adjusting upward. Telling us the layer count on the call is the single piece of information that keeps a roofing invoice matching its quote.
At around twenty two feet long the twenty needs more driveway than people expect, and it needs the truck to have room beyond the box itself. The working figures remain sixty feet of straight approach, twelve feet of clear width and twenty three feet of vertical clearance with nothing crossing it.
On a standard suburban drive that is usually achievable, though it commonly means the container occupies the full usable length and the drive stops being usable for parking. Where that is unacceptable, a kerbside placement with the appropriate permit or a step down to the fifteen are the two realistic alternatives, and which one is better depends on the street.
Step up in capacity when the volume proves larger than the first estimate suggested.

Asphalt Dumpster RentalScheduling and period differences worth checking before the booking is confirmed.
Cardboard Recycling DumpsterTell us the rooms or the roof, the layer count if it applies, and which way your material will arrive. The box goes down oriented for the way you are actually going to load it.
